This morning at 9 o'clock the six of us, Jerry, Linda, Phil, Bettie, Allan and I left for the Queen Creek Olive Mill. We were in 2 cars...Allan trying to keep up with Phil. Linda was supposed to know the directions but she was talking to the bride and groom in Hawaii. The trip home went much faster....'nuff said! We were there 2 years ago shortly after the Mill opened when there wasn't much to see. What a change. There is now a nice outside patio area and a much larger display area and food bar. We took the tour and learned allot about the various kinds of olive oil. I've only purchased virgin olive oil before and after hearing what goes into the other grades of oil I plan to stick to the virgin oil! The tour guide said to put the oil into the refrigerator for awhile (didn't say how long) when using it to bake cookies.....when stiff just blend with the sugar. We all made quite a few purchases. We tried all the oils and tapenades and thought they were wonderful.
While at the Mill we saw an ad for "The Pork Shop" which was just down the road a ways. Wow, the shop smelled like an good old fashioned butcher shop. Allan bought inch+ thick pork chops for dinner tonight and Phil fixed them on the grill, wonderful. Jerry bought Cassie some smoked pig ears and Linda bought her smoked bones. She smelled them even before the package was opened.

We learned some very valuable info on olives there. Anything but cold pressed extra virgin olive is made with chemicals, that I can't even pronounce. So take warning! They also have a great taste testing area. Yum!!! Gotta love it!
This is a great start and we're looking forward to more postings! Mexico and quilts, quilt, quilts!
Hope you're having a great time.
