Soren came to do the lawn yesterday afternoon. Anja came also so mom and dad could go out for dinner. She really makes that poor horse gallop! I have to keep my foot on the bottom frame so she and horse don't tip over. She stops regularly to feed the horse acorns that are beginning to fall and some leaves. Her mom has a horse so guess she knows they need a treat after a good ride!!

Where were you?
Do you remember where you were when man landed on the moon? That is the question asked in USA Weekend in today's paper. What an awesome and exciting time that was. We were living in Pittsburgh then. Our friends who lived across the street and Jerry and I wanted it to be an occasion our children would remember. Of course food is needed on all momentous occasions...we popped corn and and had POP instead of Kool Aid!! Bob moved the TV out onto their porch, and yes it was black and white and had ears. It was a beautiful evening to be outside and trying to relate what we were seeing on the screen to "our moon". Just think of the view that we could see today with all the new technology...digital cameras and HD TV. Is it just me or do you kids remember that night too?

We still haven't seen the young woodpecker at the feeder. Hope he wasn't too traumatized after hours stuck in a stove pipe.

I remember it so clearly. We were in Pensacola (in the Navy) and we had been to the base for a BBQ. We knew we had to get home to watch the landing and what a thrill it was. I remember looking up at that moon and being overwhelmed at the thought that Americans were up walking on it. What a great time it was!!!!!! 40 years!!!!!
Anja looks like she can really handle that horse too. What a delightful smile she has.
I do remember.
It was a gorgeous summer night and a time to feel proud to be from the USA.
To bad the Vietnam War was peeking over our shoulder.
